Lipofoods microencapsulated ingredients- Interview at Nutrition Insights

In this an interview held by Nutrition Insights ,  Lipofoods™ microencapsulation technology used for botanical ingredients Curcushine™ microcapsules and Astagile™ microcapsules is highlighted

During the interview with Nutrition Insights, Isabel Gómez, the global marketing manager of Lubrizol Life Science-Nutraceuticals Division, highlights the latest launches on Lipofoods™ botanical ingredients: CURCUSHINE™ microcapsules based on microencapsulated curcumin and ASTAGILE™ microcapsules, based on microencapsulated astaxanthin. She explains why the company chose to apply their microencapsulation expertise in curcumin and astaxanthin, well known anti-oxidant and anti-inflamamtory ingredients with proven health benefits. "These botanical ingredients exhibit some problems that can significantly limit their use in nutraceutical applications" she said. In the case of curcumin, its potential is limited by its poor solubility and its low bioavailability. In the case of astaxanthin, due to its highly conjugated, double-bond structure, it is unstable during production and storage. "Through Lipofoods™ expertise in microencapsulation, we adressed these problems of curcumin and astaxanthin". With the product CURCUSHINE™ microcapsules, we are able to provide a bioavailable and soluble microencapsulated curcumin with proven anti-aging benefits. In this case, curcumin´s solubility is highly enhanced compared to the extract and consequently the bioavailability is increased. In the case of ASTAGILE™ microcapsules, astaxanthin has been microencapsulated with other bioactive algae ingredient providing a solution to astaxanthin stability limitations, controlling its oxidation. Both products are suitable for a wide range of nutraceutical applications including tablets, capsules and nutritional powders. In the case of Curcushine, it can be also applied to water-soluble formulations like functional beverages. Click here to see the full interview.
